2) An American Salute: Rhapsody in Blue
Michelle Cann returns to the Grant Park Orchestra after a dazzling debut in 2022. This time she plays George Gershwin’s irresistible mashup of classical and jazz, Rhapsody in Blue. The concert includes Aaron Copland’s timeless Variations on a Shaker Theme and a piece inspired by Aaron Copland, the Fanfare for the Uncommon Woman by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Joan Tower.

The City of Highland Park (City) and the Park District of Highland Park (Park District) announced plans for the community to gather on July 4, 2023. The City and Park District are working collaboratively to develop events and activities using a trauma-informed approach with the goal of balancing the diverse needs that have emerged in the wake of the Highland Park shooting.
